“Was not their mistake once more bred of the life of slavery that they had been living?—a life which was always looking upon everything, except mankind, animate and inanimate—‘nature,’ as people used to call it—as one thing, and mankind as another, it was natural to people thinking in this way, that they should try to make ‘nature’ their slave, since they thought ‘nature’ was something outside them” — William Morris

Hyperobjects Liveblog 7

I can feel how this is going to work. All the lines of thinking are in the right places. Because I road tested the hyperobjects for a whole year, I know roughly what to say. And I can follow a line of thinking until I come to a mental roadblock. Then I stop, as I'm doing now. About 5200 words now. This book will be written in about thirty days, I think, which is just the time frame I gave myself.

I found myself talking about the significance of speculative realism just now. That's just how it shook down. There are so many angles to cover that there's always something to do. Right now, it's a matter of getting the words out in front of me. Then I find my thinking seizes up, and it's time to let it go.

In fact, right now I'm off to practice, meditation I mean. Time to demagnetize my head.
